Empasta was founded in 2019 with a mission to create a plant-based cheese alternative that promotes sustainability, health, and inclusivity. We exist to provide a flavorful, whole-foods-based cheeze that fits seamlessly into your favorite comfort dishes—whether it’s creamy Mac ‘n’ Cheese, nachos, or a burger spread—all while making a positive impact on the planet.

Our founder, Matthew, has been passionate about sustainability since high school. While in undergrad, he became more aware of how dietary choices affect the environment. As a cheese lover himself, he faced a dilemma: he wanted to eat in a more sustainable way but found that many plant-based cheeses fell short. They either didn’t melt well, lacked flavor, offered little nutritional value, or were too expensive or inaccessible for most people.

Determined to create something better, Matthew set out to develop a cheeze sauce that checks all the boxes—delicious, nutritious, and accessible. Free from dairy, nuts, gluten, and soy, Empasta’s cheeze offers the comfort and versatility people crave, without compromising taste. From day one, sustainability has been part of our DNA. We carefully select low-impact ingredients and follow eco-friendly practices to reduce waste, cut emissions, and bring a product to life that’s good for both you and the planet.
